more training undies

I decided to make one more pair of training pants tonight. This time with fold over elastic to make them more like undies.

While I was sewing, a mosquito decided to fly around the sewing machine light and then into the needle. GROSS!

[edit]Pattern is the Katrina’s quick sew soaker pattern (with booster) except that I decided to put foe around the legs instead of the fleece[/edit]

Take me to the moon

Every budding astronaut needs a spaceship!
I was looking at applique ideas for spaceships to put on training pants when I discovered this rocketship pattern. I figured a boy that loves rocketships must have his own and decided to make it over lunch while it has been too hot to do anything else productive.

The materials are denim and cotton. I made up the ribbon bit as I decided there needed to be some ‘flames’ and thought it made a nice edging. I also decided that I didn’t want to put cardboard in the wings and I didn’t have anything to protect plastic going in the wings so I just put stuffing in.

Next time I will make the bit that attaches the leg to the ship longer so that it you have more room to attach it with. Unfortunately one side of the last leg managed to slip out and I noticed after I had finished sewing the ribbon around the bottom!

WOOSH!

Soaker

These are for a friend’s toddler who is toilet training.

They are a pair of pull up pants with 2 layers of bamboo, which is hopefully enough to contain an accident but won’t hold much more and will feel wet. I used the katrina quick sew soaker pattern and booster (with a couple of my own alterations)

I should have sewed the legs with a bright blue thread but as I didn’t have any and wanted to make them tonight, I decided it didn’t matter ‘that’ much.

The inside has 2 layers of bamboo and a covering layer of cotton knit (thanks to an old tshirt).
