Tag blanket

I wanted to create something special for my baby second cousin for Christmas. He already has lots of clothes etc and I eventually thought of a tag blanket. Every baby I know loves playing with tags on clothing and toys. I tried to get as many different textures into the tags. The dalmation print is minky and the underneath is fleece.

I added two elasticised strips and snaps so that it could be attached to the pram etc.

This is another project where I appreciated my walking foot!

Teddy bear weekend

I felt like doing some applique this weekend and wanted to create something semi christmassy but also could be used all year round. Introducing my first nappy and singlet set…
Teddies incorportated.

The cutest thing about the nappy is something you can’t see.
The nappy jingles!
I sewed tiny bells into the top elastic casing and yes made very very sure that with wear and tear they wouldn’t escape and cause a chocking hazard.

The plain singlet was bought, but the teddies and nappy are made from scratch. I’m getting a lot more control over what I’m stitching now.

I made this little guy from scratch this afternoon. Two others are on their way to join him. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s sewing efforts to see what they are for.

Cupcakes

I had a little bit of time this weekend so I decided to enter the nappicino cupcake weekly competition.

The competition posts the cupcake recipe (brownie cupcakes) and we get to choose topping/decoration etc. I made orange juice icing with a walnut.
I made them this afternoon but as the temperature hasn’t cooled and there was no room in the fridge, I wasn’t able to do anything really pretty with the icing.
It was also a great excuse to pull out my grandfathers piping set.
