Our very cool new office

We moved into our new office today and we are all really impressed and excited.

The work area

office

My desk is the one with the 3 screens as I have the mac mini and my PC. This area has room for growth as we were outgrowing our old studio. Everyone has a pinboard and a whiteboard and I’m sure by the end of the week all the office toys will be around and everyone will have customised their area.

meeting

This middle area has our boardroom, a meeting room along with the bosses offices and the the very important kitchen.

tv

No they are not staring at a blank TV, I happened to snap the photo while the game was changing screens. We also have table and chairs and our treasured whiteboard.

airhockey

And the most exciting new addition to the office…. OUR AIR HOCKEY TABLE. It also flips to a pool table. The boxes unfortunately have to go back to the movers otherwise i’m sure they would have turned into some type of fort.

A busy day with my two mums

Yesterday my mother in law, mother and I headed to the craft and quilt fair. A lot of fun was had by all and I got a very good deal on a very exciting purchase I will be making Tuesday.

Then we raced home and got ready for the Brisbane municipal concert band and Brisbane City Big Band concert. It was a fantastic night and the audience seemed suitably impressed. Click the photo below to go to the band gallery. Thanks to Angie (my mother in law) for the photos of the concert band.

Stay tuned for two exciting announcements on Tuesday as I will be sharing my first daring bakers challenge and hopefully my newest toy purchase.

photos from riverfire

Last night was riverfire, a celebration of our Brisbane river every year letting off 30min of fireworks. My band is very lucky as we have a few members that are part of the maritime museum. So we give a concert and then get the lovely privilege to stay for the fireworks without needing to squish into southbank.

My camera is a panasonic lumix tz15 (a nice point and shoot). Andrew got it for me (after I did the research) last year just before riverfire as my old canon ixus 430 had decided that it wanted to die (after 6 years of heavy use). This year I had the chance to read the manual a little more and find features to control the more manual settings (though the automatic fireworks setting does an amazing job too). I ditched the tripod this year and still about 90% of the photos turned out nice and clear so I got to choose the ones that I thought were interesting. I probably should go back through all and find ones I can reframe and make a little more interesting.

My sewing stuff has a home

I’m really really excited that my sewing stuff now has a home and that after 2 years we have finally worked out how to set up the lounge/dining room and actually taken action to get it done.

We swapped our current dining room and lounge room. They are one long room but have a archway between. This makes the bigger room a flexible room for eating and crafting and playing.

We added a 2m*2.6m wardrobe! Most of my sewing stuff goes in the right of it, with a home for the ironing board and vacuum in the middle. They finally have a home instead of just floating around the house.

The left side has the rest of my sewing stuff (yes I have a lot!) and will contain other things like craft, board games and christmas stuff.

Because I think the cottons and satins are pretty, I’ve put them in the display cabinet.

The new dining area, with extra chairs and table, can now take 12 people! Now I just need a kitchen big enough to cook for all of them.
